How it works
- 01Open the PDF.
- 02Choose a position and a format, such as "Page {n} of {total}".
- 03Pick decimal, roman or alphabetic numbering.
- 04Export.
Numbering follows the document
The number is worked out when the page is drawn, not when you set the option. Move a page to the end and it becomes the last number; hide two pages and the total drops by two.
Front matter can start elsewhere
Set a starting number to continue from another document, or use roman numerals for a preface and switch to decimal for the body by exporting the two parts separately.
Questions
- What can I put in the format?
- Any text, plus {n} for the page number and {total} for the count. "Page {n} of {total}" and "— {n} —" both work.
- Will the numbers cover existing content?
- They are placed in the margin. If a page already has content there, move the numbers to another corner.
